Sydney FC cop Bridge ban

Tuesday, October 11, 2011 » 06:19pm

Sydney FC claim they had little choice but to accept the two-game A-League ban handed down to striker mark Bridge on Monday.

Bridge will miss clashes against Brisbane and Adelaide after FFA’s match review panel issued the ban as a result of his elbowing Melbourne Victory’s Roddy Vargas at Etihad Stadium on Saturday night.

Sydney FC chief executive Dirk Melton said the club would have appealed the suspension had a longer ban been handed down.

However, under current FFA disciplinary regulations, a player or club is not entitled to appeal a decision unless the player receives a suspension over the two-game minimum.

‘With the way the FFA disciplinary regulations are structured, there is no realistic avenue for Sydney FC to appeal the decision of the match review panel or to state a case in Mark’s defence,’ Melton said.

‘Mark was standing his ground trying to charge down a free kick when he was illegally taken out of the game by a Melbourne Victory player.

‘… we don’t believe there was conclusive evidence to highlight there was contact to the throat of the player as mark was trying to push him aside to take up his position and challenge for the ball.’

Sydney Harbour New Year’s Eve fireworks Cruises

This article looks at what you can expect on a Sydney Harbour new Year’s Eve fireworks cruise.

The Sydney Harbour new Year’s Eve Fireworks display is renowned as one of the best in the world. This year promises to be no different. Here’s my rundown on the events for this year.

Starting at 9pm, the traditional Family fireworks display promises to be the best ever. with 4 barges and the addition of new effects, this 8 minute, radio synchronized display is always a great indicator of what we can expect at midnight.

Immediately following the Family fireworks is the Harbour Light parade. the fleet of vessels adorned with spectacular lights, makes its way on a 15km circuit east and west of the Harbour bridge, from Clarke Island down to Cockatoo Island. This is a great spectacle for the millions of people lining the harbour foreshore and takes in the most beautiful sites of the harbour for those on board. at the completion of the parade, the vessels return to an exclusive viewing area with fantastic views of the midnight fireworks.

Finally, we come to the main event — the 12 magnificent minutes of colour and sound that light up the Harbour. This year the display includes 30,000 effects, 6 fireworks barges across 6 kilometers of water and involves both spans and all roadway of the Harbour Bridge and 8 city buildings. An estimated 1.5 million people line the various vantage spots around the harbour, but the best view in the house is undeniably from the deck of a vessel.

with several new vessels to Sydney this season such as Bella Vista and the magnificent Starship, there are still many tickets available for a Sydney Harbour new Year’s Eve fireworks cruise.

How do we book fireworks cruises? does anyone know how to book the illuminations or wishes fireworks cruises? how far out, what number and all that? we’d really like to try one for next time we go.

Specialty Fireworks Cruises has anyone watched the MK fireworks from the pontoon boat? if so can you please describe the boat?

Why is Sydney the Best Tourist Attraction?

Sydney, Australia is one of the world’s best travel destinations. It is home to some of the finest restaurants, wineries, and beaches. A trip to Sydney would not be complete without seeing the fabulous Sydney Harbor showcasing the famous Opera House and Harbour Bridge. Sydney is known for having the friendliest people, so you’ll feel right at home. perhaps that is why Sydney has been voted the best city in the world for visitors six consecutive years.

Hunter Valley Wineries

Australia’s oldest, most visited wine region is an easy two-hour drive from Sydney. there are about 120 wineries to visit. part of the fun is discovering an excellent wine that you can’t buy just anywhere. There’s nothing like tasting a wine on the site where the wine was made and with the person who made it.

The Hunter Valley is also well known for its gourmet restaurants, all of which make good use of the local produce. Hunter Valley beef, duck, cheeses, olives, stone fruits and honey are all found in the area. there are also lots of things to do, from touring wine cellars to relaxing in luxurious day spas.

Sydney sits on one of the most beautiful harbors in the world. the harbor provides the perfect backdrop for sailing, swimming, fishing, jetboating, dining, and harbor tours by ferry or seaplane. Climbing the Harbor Bridge is also a favorite for tourists, which takes you from the base to the summit of the famous bridge’s arch.

If you’re looking for a more leisurely tour of Sydney, a Harbor cruise is the perfect scenic adventure. Short Harbor cruises will allow you to do some sightseeing for an hour or so. the sunset dinner cruises offer a romantic dinner for two while listening to the world’s most popular arias from the Opera House.

Regardless of how you choose to see the sights, Sydney Harbor offers exciting adventures, relaxing tours, and one of the most beautiful places on Earth.

The Opera House nestled in Sydney Harbor is an architectural wonder You can take a walking tour of the famous theater with a knowledgeable guide, or attend one of the many performances held at Sydney’s Opera House. they even offer a backstage tour of the Opera House so you can stand on stage and meet the performers, stars, and staff.

Sydney Accommodations

When staying in Sydney, you’ll find fantastic accommodations. two of my favorites are the North Sydney Harbourview Hotel and four Points by Sheraton Darling Harbour.

The Harbourview Hotel has spectacular views of the Sydney Harbor Bridge and the city’s skyline. known for its uncompromising service, the Harbourview is close to tourist attractions like the Taronga Zoo and the Bridge Climb.

The Sheraton’s four Points overlooks the Darling Harbour and is minutes from all the best tourist attractions in Sydney. You’ll be right in the thick of the entertainment and dining center of Sydney. Don’t forget to stop in the hotel’s restaurant for an elegant seafood buffet. You won’t want to miss it.

With over 240 days of sun and clear blue skies, you cannot leave Sydney without visiting one of the sprawling sandy beaches. the coast line of New South Wales has miles of unspoiled beaches perfect for swimming, surfing, coastal walks and scenic drives. some of the most popular Sydney beaches include Byron Bay, Coffs Coast, Bondi, Ballina, Port Macquarie and Crescent Head.

No matter which activities interest you, there will be endless fun and adventurous things to see in Sydney Australia. if you’re planning on visiting Sydney, make sure to plan enough time to see all the culture and history this city has to offer.

How do I pay the toll on the Sydney Harbour Bridge without buying an E-Tag?

I went through the bridge on my new motorcycle, without a tag. I have received a bill in the mail for the toll. However, it seems the only way I can pay this bill is if I order an E-Tag device online. I do not want one, as I will almost never drive through it. How can I pay without getting one of these doohickies in the mail?

You can ring ahead of time and get a temporary pass or you can ring within 24 hours after the crossing and pay using a credit card. These cost about 70c more than the standard toll as they charge you for a search of the photographs.

You don't "buy" an E-tag. It will cost you $40 at any RTA office but that is refundable if and when you return the tag. You are also required to put a deposit on the tag which the RTA tops up from your credit card as required. there is no time limit on an E-tag and you can use it as much or as little as you like. for infrequent use, a deposit of $20 and a top up at $10 would be adequate.

I have had mine for a few years and usually go to Sydney once a year and Brisbane once or twice a year. The E-tag works for all tolls and covers my infrequent use. even if you only use it a few times it is worth it to save all the hassle and extra expense of paying tolls.

If the bill has an amount on it, I would just enclose a money order or certified check made out to the return addressee. If you don't know the amount, I would call the bridge authority's office, explain your situation, and see if they can tell you how much and where to send the money. just about no other way with bridge accepting only Tags and E passes.

Payment details will be on the bill. make sure you pay it straight away, to avoid further costs.
