PUSH came to shove – quite literally – during an "intense" argument at a Kings Cross nightclub over the weekend when hunky Sydney bachelors and perennial party lads Julian Tobias and Didier Cohen almost came to blows.

Stunned onlookers watched as Tobias, owner of "theclub", and Cohen, an expat US model and DJ, exchanged insults in a screaming match at Roslyn St hotspot and celebrity haunt Beach Haus on Friday night.

It’s suspected that their mutual friend Kendal Schuler, a Chadwicks model who dates Cohen but is Tobias’ former long-term love interest, was at the centre of the dispute.

According to a well-placed insider, "tension" began bubbling early in the night, eventually hitting fever pitch when Cohen and Schuler, walking hand-in-hand, crossed paths with Tobias.

"They walked past Julian on their way to the lift and Julian just clicked it," the spy told Confidential.

"[Tobias] tried to get into the lift, and they were yelling at each other and shoving each other a bit.

"There were quite a few people in between them trying to calm it down.

"The club just stopped and watched. it was intense."

Cohen could not be contacted yesterday but a friend said they were unaware of the fracas.

"They [Cohen and Tobias] have never really clicked. Dids is a gentle giant, so he definitely avoids conflict."

Tobias, whose latest venture – a party barge called The Island – has become an A-list mecca, was not available for comment yesterday.

The one-time GQ Man of the Year nominee has long denied widespread reports that he was admitted to hospital after being involved in an altercation inside his club last year.
