Surprising your Wife on Your Anniversary

Your wife does so much and now it’s time to really spoil her with you anniversary just around the corner. but how do you make sure that you make this special occasion everything she’d hoped it would be? From Sydney Harbour dinner cruises to sending her roses at work, we’ve got all the important tips for sweeping your wife off her feet this anniversary:

The element of surprise

In order to really catch her by surprise you need to keep all of your anniversary ideas private and make sure that she has no idea what you have in-store. Don’t mention your anniversary and be very casual about it if she mentions it to you. It may seem a little cruel, but it will be well worth it when she get the best surprise ever!

A day to remember

The key to a fabulous anniversary is to organise a day of surprises for her. Firstly, let her wake up to you cooking her favourite breakfast in the kitchen. Wait on her hand and foot and give her a anniversary card that lets her know just how much you appreciate her. tell her that she should come home as early as she can to get ready for a special evening, but give nothing away.

Love notes

Once she’s taken off for work or to drop the kids at school, place some post-its in the bedroom, for instance on her mirror, saying things like ‘happy anniversary darling’ or ‘I love you more each day. When she comes home from work to get changed she’ll love the sentiment of your special love notes.

Don’t forget the flowers

Nothing says romance like a dozen boxed long stem red roses. Have them delivered to her a work or at home and make sure you have a note attached to them. a simple ‘happy Anniversary’ will do, seeing as she’ll be gushing from the moment she sees the courier holding the flowers.

A night to remember

Nothing says ‘I love you more than life itself’ than a night spent sipping champagne and enjoying fine food on one of the world’s most beautiful harbours. Sydney harbour cruises pose the ideal setting for an important occasion such as this and offers everything you need to set the scene for the most romantic evening ever. Start the night off by enjoying some fine canapes and cocktails. Then talk over a delicious dinner before finishing off with a fine selection of desserts.

Sometimes it makes sense to spoil your other half on your anniversary. with the hustle and bustle of everyday life, we can often forget how lucky we are. When life gets busy with work, kids and other commitments it’s important that will still show our partners just how much they mean to us, every day. showing your appreciation and admiration on your anniversary is the perfect way to let your partner know just how much you love and admire them.

Planning the Ultimate Hens Night in Sydney

So you are the one that’s been put in charge of making the Hens Night a gleaming success? It’s a lot of pressure, but if planned right, it’ll be something you’ll be able to boast about for years to come and even more important still, your bride-to-be will love it. From Sydney Harbour dinner cruises to great Hens Night gifts, we’ve got all the information you need to know to host a memorable Hens Night in Sydney:

Sending out the invitations

The first thing you need to do is create a guest list. if you are unsure of who the bride wants to come, ask her. Generally you will have at least one part of the evening where even grandma can join you. This will be for the dinner most likely. Confirm the date of the Hens Night with the bride-to-be before creating the invitations. give everyone plenty of notice and make the RSVP for the night to you.

Creating a theme for the night

Often there is an overall theme for the night. often it’s something close to the heart of the hen. for instance, if she’s a doctor or a nurse, you could have a theme where everyone needs to wear something related to that, such as a nurse’s hat or a stethoscope.

The whole point of a Hens Night is to make your friend who is soon to be married feel special. purchase or make her some novelty accessories for the night so that she stands out from the crowd. A sash with ‘bride to be’ on it is a great idea. And then perhaps a crown and a scepter is a nice touch too.

Cocktails and canapes

Starting off the night at someone’s house is a great way to start. it means that you can play all of the raunchy games you like and give her any naughty gifts before you go out for dinner with grandma and auntie Sue. ask everyone to bring a plate and supply some champagne or make her favourite cocktails.

A harbour dinner cruise

There’s one truly spectacular way to experience Sydney on a special occasion such as this, and that’s by taking one of the best Sydney harbour cruises and enjoying the night from the best seat in the house. What’s great about these cruises is that you can purchase a dinner and drinks package, you can have a wonderful night experiencing Sydney like never before and everyone from elderly relatives to young work colleges can have a great time!

TIP: if you are worried about being out of pocket, ask everyone to bank transfer the cost per head for the dinner and drinks so that you don’t have to worry about chasing people for money on the night.

Planning the ultimate Hens Night for your friend is easy if you take your time and make sure everyone is on board. if you use our suggestions on how to create a spectacular Hens Night in Sydney, there is no doubt that everyone who attends will be raving about what a fabulous evening they had, weeks and years later.

Hosting an Anniversary Celebration for Your Parents

Your parents are your inspiration for true love. They’ve been together for so long and still seem madly in love with one another. It’s only natural that you want to host a party for them to celebrate a milestone anniversary. from Sydney harbour dinner cruises to intimate versus extravagant, we’ve got a list of the top tips for planning a party your parents will love:

What would they like?

The first thing to consider is what your parents would like. There’s no point in hosting an expensive, huge surprise party if they’d rather an intimate gathering with only close family and friends. If you aren’t 100% sure, perhaps speak to your mother and find out what sort of celebration they’d both most enjoy.

The date

Of course the first thing you need to do is make sure that the proposed date is kept free by your parents. Make sure they don’t have anything planned for that day/evening before making the booking.

Invitations

You will need to send out invitations about 6 weeks before the event. This will give people plenty of time to RSVP and also ensure that most guests will be able to attend.

Prepare a few words to share at the party

This is not something you have to do, but would be nice. when you are gathering everyone to celebrate such an important occasion it’s often a good idea to share a few words.

Entertainment

There is plenty of wonderful entertainment you can have arranged for the event. perhaps a live jazz band would be ideal because they enjoy dancing, or if they are more into comedy, a stand-up act might be just the thing. You could even arrange to have a singer that performs a number of their favourite songs.

Gifts

It’s a nice thought to give your parents a gift that is appropriate for the amount of years they’ve been together. look online if you think a traditional gift like this would be best. otherwise, get a little creative with it. perhaps ask your siblings to all chip in and send your parents away for the weekend on a cruise? It’s something they’ll thoroughly enjoy and really appreciate.

The venue

For intimate gatherings or an extravagant party you can’t go past a cruise. Sydney harbour cruises during the day or in the evening offer the perfect setting for such a special occasion. Your parents will love it and it’s something different and unique from simply booking a table at a restaurant or having a party at someones house.

If your parents really inspire you with their love for one another, then throwing them a party for a milestone anniversary is a great way to show your admiration. Not only will they enjoy celebrating this important occasion with their nearest and dearest, but they’ll also be overjoyed at how much you still look up to them as role models in your life.

Australian Catholic University Blogs | Blog | My 5 favourite clubs and societies at ACU North Sydney

Life doesn’t have to be all about studying!  As a new student at Australian Catholic University, North Sydney Campus, I set out to learn about the student clubs available to keep me entertained between classes.

1. MacKillop Student Association (MAKSA)

MAKSA is here to spice up the student life of local and international students.  Every semester the MAKSA organises exciting events such as sporting and social events, parties, games, excursions, and much more!  It gives students from different parts of the world the opportunity to get together, have great fun, share their experiences and show up their talents.

MAKSA also helps students join in with the national ACU Postgraduate Students’ Association to get together to network and discuss professional experience, tips and job opportunities so as to effectively boost their careers!

2. The Bearettes

The Bearettes is a ladies’ club which hosts several “girls’ night outs” throughout the year where members can bring along and make new female friends. The Bearettes also come together during inter-sport competition to support the MAKSA sports teams!

3. Poker Club

If you are passionate about cards, especially poker, then the Poker Club is for you!  Friendly games and tournaments held throughout the semester.  Fortunately, you can join for a casual game if you just want to try once!

4. ACU OZTAG

What’s Oztag?!  My research shows that it is a new sport, based on football or rugby.  ACU Oztag is forming mixed, men’s and women’s teams to enter the local competition.  MAKSA says that Volleyball and Netball clubs are also coming soon to the North Sydney Campus. Stay connected!

5. ACUmates

ACUmates is a social club to bring international and local students together for excursions around Sydney.  This semester, activities include going to a rugby game, dinner on campus and a Sydney Harbour Cruise (I will report back another time about that!).

Are you a member of any ACU clubs?what new clubs or activities would you like to see started at ACU?
